Fred Arnold joined Wolves in 1939 but almost immediately was called up for service with the RAF. During his time with the service he played for the RAF football team and towards the end of the hostilities toured Belgium and Denmark. During the War he made one appearance for the clubs Reserves as well as guesting for both Portsmouth and Walsall. His Reserves debut came at Molineux against Wellington Town on 1 November 1941 in the Birmingham & District League. In 1946 he joined the Royal Wolverhampton School as their Sports Master and later joined the West Midland Police Force and rose to Commander before his retirement. He also coached cricket for Dudley Cricket Club and in 1982 rejoined Wolves as the club Boys Club Leader. Arnold who was in the Police Force for forty years for many years he lived in Penn and was awarded his British Empire Medal by the Queen in 1977.
