Career: Horden Road School, Old Hall School, Wolverhampton Boys, Heath Town, WOLVES juniors 1933, professional Feb 34, Blackburn Rovers Jan 36, Ipswich Town 1937, Colchester United Mar 38.

Astill debut for the club came at Market Harborough in April 1933 and in February 1934 he helped himself to hat-trick at home to Tamworth in the Birmingham Combination. For the clubs Reserves he made 36 appearances netting 19 goals and his scoring debut came at home to Everton in April 1934. He made just two appearances for the First team with his last being a 5-0 trashing at Manchester City the final game of the 1934/35 season.

After Leaving Wolves Astill made four appearances for Blackburn Rovers as they were Relegated from the First Division in 1936. Len then had a season at Portman Road Southern League with Ipswich Town and ended the season with 29 appearances and 13 goals. Of his 13 strikes he netted a hat-trick against Newport County in October. Atkins then had a spell with Colchester United and made 46 appearance before the out brake of the Second World War ended his playing career.
