Wolves toured Australia in June 1972, following three matches in New Zealand, and played four matches in four different cities. Wolves first match in Melbourne against an Australian XI ended in a 1-0 defeat and the second match just a day later against the same opposition ended in a 2-2 draw in Sydney, with Wolves goals coming from Frank Munro and Hugh Curran. Curran was later sent-off. Two days later Wolves faced Queensland in Brisbane and ran out comfortable winners 6-2, with goals coming from a Peter Eastoe hat-trick and one each from Derek Dougan, Jim McCalliog and Kenny Hibbitt. Three days later on 17th June Wolves traveled to Adelaide to face South Australia and again Wolves came out on top, this time 3-2.
