Burton Swifts FC

Burton Swifts were formed in 1971 and were founder members of the Football League’s Second Division in 1892 and stayed their until the 1901 when they merged with Burton Wanderers to become Burton United. Their highest League position was 6th in both 1892/93 and 1893/94. Although they never met Wolves in the League they met several times in local cup competitions. Wolves best victory 4-1 came in the Lord Mayor of Birmingham Charity Cup on 19 September 1898. Wolves were due to meet the Swifts in the Birmingham Cup on 10 March 1889, but the Swifts scratched and a friendly took place instead. Wolves won the match at Dudley Road 7-0.
