Italian club from Florence, Fiorentina were formed in 1926 and won the first league title 1955/56 and won the first Italian Cup in 1940. They have reached four European finals, they lost in the European Cup in 1957, won the Cup-Winners Cup in 1961 and lost the following year. In 1981-82 they lost an all Italian UEFA Cup to Juventus. Wolves faced Fiorentina in the Anglo-Italian Cup in 1969-70. The first leg at Molineux saw Derek Dougan strike after 10 minutes and Dave Wagstaffe net a second on 69 minutes with Maraschi pulling one back four minutes from time. The second leg saw Wolves run out comfortable winners. Amarildo netted for the homesters after 26 minutes with John Richards equalizing seven minutes from the brake. Hugh Curran netted after 60 and the ‘Doog’ netted a third four minutes from time. Fiorentina went on to lift the Anglo-Italian League Cup in 1975, beating West Ham United in the final.
