Wolves have met Italian opposition on eleven occasions in the UEFA Cup, the Anglo-Italian Cup and a number of friendlies. The UEFA Cup saw Wolves beat Juventus in the quarter-final in 1972 and the Anglo-Italian Cup has seen Wolves meet Fiorentina and Roma in 1970 and Ascoli, Atalanta, Lecce and Venezia in 1994. Wolves first meeting with an Italian side came in May 1933 when they faced Pro Vercelli during Wolves tour of France. The match took place in Nice in front of an 8,000 crowd and Wolves won thanks to a goal from Arthur Hetherington. In May 1958 Wolves lost 5-1 to Juventus in the third and fourth place play-off match in the Brussels Tournament and in Los Angeles in 1967 Wolves fought out a 2-2 all draw with Cagliari in the United States Tournament.
