Sheffield United FC

Sheffield United were formed in March 1889 and were elected to the Football League as founder members of the Second Division in 1892. The Blades have won the Football League title once in 1897/98 and the FA Cup on four occasions. The first meeting between Wolves and the Blades came in the FA Cup on 30 January 1892 and the first League fixture came at Molineux on 30 September 1893. On 28 January 1950 Wolves won a remarkable FA Cup replay at Bramall Lane with four inches of snow covering the pitch. In February 1954 with Wolves on the way to their first League title they put another six past the Blades and with both clubs on the way to relegation Wolves put five past the Blades at Molineux in 1975/76. On 9 May 1989 Wolves and United drew 2-2 a result that saw Wolves as Third Division champions and Sheffield promoted as runners-up. Wolves were promoted to the Premier League in 2003 thanks to 3-0 victory over the Blades in the Play-off final at the Millennium Stadium. George Hedley who scored in Wolves 1908 FA Cup final win over Newcastle United picked-up three winners medals with Sheffield United and scored in their 1902 success over Southampton.
