Born in Milton, Staffordshire on Christmas Eve 1890, and was educated at Sneyd Green School. Allman started his career with Smallthorne F.C. (Stoke-on-Trent), before joining Shrewsbury Town 1910 and then Wolves in 1912. After making just 10 appearances for Wolves Reserves he moved to Swansea Town in 1913. He moved on to Manchester United in May 1914 where he made his League debut and a further 11 League appearances. In May 1919 Allman transferred to Millwall and made six appearances for the South London club before having trials with Port Vale but without, again, making a single appearance he moved on to Aberaman Athletic. Then he signed for Crewe Alexandra in 1922 and he made a further 23 League appearances before ending his career with a second spell at Aberaman Athletic. Allman died in Milton on 22 December 1956. During the First World War Allman served with the Army in France and guested for Stoke.
