Angus, John ‘Jack’

Central-Defence.

A Geordie, signed for Wolves from Amble Wanderers in September 1928 and stayed until 1930. After short spell’s with Wath Wanderers and Scunthorpe United he moved to Exeter City for whom he made 292 appearances. Whilst at St. James Park Angus helped the Devon club to their best FA Cup run, the quarter-final in 1930/31 and to success in the Third Division (South) Cup in 1934. Jack stayed at Exeter until he retired in 1948 although he played a few more matches with Sidmouth F.C. before quitting full-time. Angus was born in Newcastle-on-Tyne on 12 March 1909 and died in 1979.
