Anderson, Edward Walton ‘Ted’

Left-back.

Born: Dudley, Northumberland, 17 July 1911; Died: Birkenhead, 23 March 1979.

Debut: Port Vale (h) 11/3/1931.

Ted Anderson made three appearances for Wolves first eleven replacing the injured Dia Richards and 17 for the Reserves. His first appearance in the ‘Old Gold and Black’ came for the juniors and his debut for the Reserves came on New Years Day 1930 a 4-0 home defeat to Derby County.

Ted went on to make 66 appearances for Torquay United, 28 for West Ham United, 55 League appearances for Chester and 31 League appearances for Tranmere Rovers. Whilst at Prenton Park he helped the Wirral club to the Third Division (North) title in 1938, but suffered relegation with them just 12 months later. Anderson started life as a miner before becoming a professional footballer.
