Asher, Thomas ‘Tommy’

Inside-forward.

Born: Dunscroft, 21 December 1936.

Tommy joined Wolves juniors in 1952 and helped the club lift the Birmingham & District League title in 1954. He helped the juniors to the 1954 FA Youth Cup final, with two goals in as many games, against Derby County and Spalding United, in earlier rounds. In 1954 he joined Wolves junior club Wath Wanderers and from there he signed for Notts County in July 1954. He had to wait until 19 September 1957 to make his League debut, at home to Swansea Town.  He hit three goals in as many matches in November but County were relegated from the Second Division come May. The following season he made just 11 appearances and transferred to Ilkestone Town in the summer of 1959. He then had spells with Peterborough United and Ransome & Marles F.C.
