Born: London, 16 November 1961.
Signed by Tommy Docherty Ipswich Town, England Youth international David Barnes was a strong tackling Full-back who became a fans favorite.
He started his career Coventry City and 13 appearances at Highfield Road before making 17 appearances for Ipswich Town. His first two season at Molineux saw Wolves Relegated from the Second Division to the Fourth and his third season under Graham Turner saw Wolves reach the play-offs. He made 107 appearances and was sent-off once, before somewhat surprisingly he moved to Aldershot.
He went onto make 76 appearances for the Hampshire club but could not stop them being Relegated from the Third Division in 1989. His next stop saw him turn out for Sheffield United. He helped them to promotion from the Second Division in 1990, but suffer Relegation from the Premier League in 1993. He then transferred to Watford and made 16 appearances and suffer Relegation from the Second Division in 1996 before his final move to Colchester United. At Layer Road he made his final 11 appearances before being forced hanging up his boots though injury in March 1997.
