Boldmere St. Michael FC

Sutton Coldfield’s Boldmere St. Michael were founded in 1883 as a youth team attached to the local church. Wolves have met the ‘Mikes’ many time at junior level but the clubs have only met once in senior competition. On 12 October 1985 Wolves traveled to Church Road in the Second Round of the Birmingham Cup with a very youthful side. Wolves lost 2-0 with only David Heywood and Joe Jackson having appeared for the first eleven. Wolves juniors in the Birmingham League in September 1953 beat Boldmere 9-0 and 7-1 in the space of just eight days, Joe Bonson netted five in the home victory. In the Worcestershire Combination Wolves have had a number of big wins against the ‘Mikes’. On the opening day of the 1957/58 season, both Gerry Mannion and Barry Stobart netted hat-tricks as Boldmere were hit for eleven wile Ted Farmer netted five as they were hit for nine.
