1879/80

The 1879/80 season is the first time Wolverhampton Wanderers appear regularly in local newspapers. It’s not for football, but for cricket.

On 14 June they faced Amblecote, and in early August they travelled to Dudley All Star. Dudley were bowled out for just 23 and Wolverhampton Wanderers reply saw them all out for just 20, three behind after the first innings.

On 30 August they faced Dudley in a return fixture in Wolverhampton. Wolves lost again.
