Player of Season: John Burridge. Takeover: The club go into liquidation on 2 July as new Chairman Doug Ellis admits the club owe over £2,500,000. Ellis had become Wolves chairman two weeks previous. Ultimately on Friday 30 July, the club is bought by Derek Dougan and his Manchester based consortium. The club is to be known as Wolverhampton Wanders (1982) Ltd. They agree to pay 70p in the pound to all creditors and agree to pay the Football League a £350,000 bond to guarantee the club fulfil in 1982/83 season in full. In all it is believed that £3,000,000 is paid for the ownership of the club. The people to lose out are local businessmen and club shareholders as Wolves shares are now priced at 40p where as 18 months previously they were worth 115p.
