Buckley, Edward Colston

Born in Trethomas on 13 September 1912 Ted started his career with his hometown club. He than had trials with Sunderland and Wolves in 1934. He joined Bristol Rovers in 1935 and made his league debut and a further seven League appearances. Centre-forward Ted Buckley then had a spell with Bath City, trial’s with Bournemouth & Biscombe Athletic before joining Tranmere Rovers in 1937. He went onto score 12 goals in 35 League appearances before the outbreak of the Second World War. He helped Rovers to the Third Division (North) championship in 1938, but suffered relegation with them just twelve months later. During the war the joined the Birkenhead Fire Service.
