Referee: Mr F Wort (Mottingham, Kent).
Penalty: Harry Betmead failed to control the ball, Dennis Westcott fastened onto it and Betmead brought him down.
Injuries: Dickie Dorsett and Grimsby’s debutante goalkeeper George Moulson are both carried off after just twenty minutes. Jack Hodgson replaced Moulson (who was unconscious until half-time) between the sticks, Teddy Buck dropped to left-back and Tom Jones had to combined inside-left and left-half. Dorsett returned ten minutes before the brake.
Appearances: Alec Scott was the only Wolves player to have previously played in an FA Cup semi-final, doing so for Burnley in 1935, Grimsby had a number of players.
Landmark: Grimsby’s international goalkeeper George Tweedy was taken ill on the morning of the match so Moulson had to make his debut.
History: Jimmy Mullen become the youngest ever player to appear in the FA Cup semi-final.
