Championship: Liverpool’s victory saw them go top of the table. Wolves dropped to third behind Manchester United who had already completed their fixtures on goal average. Liverpool took their first title since 1923 when Stoke City lost at Sheffield United two weeks later.
Retirement: Stan Cullis makes his last appearance for Wolves after announcing his retirement prior to the match.
Re-Arranged: Originally scheduled for 12th April but was moved because of Liverpool’s involvement in their FA Cup Semi-final Replay.
