Injury: Scott Barrett damaged his cartilage in the pre-match warm- up. He wanted to come off, but manager Sammy Chapman persuaded him to stay on and said don’t let Rotherham know you are suffering, because they will exploit the problem. Barrett earlier in the season had hurt his next in the Cup match at Rotherham.

This was the first game that Wolves wore their second ever shirt sponsor, namely Benjamin Perry. This was displayed on the Wolves shirt for the final 16 games of the 1985-86 season. 15 games Wolves wore the gold but for one game the white away shirt was worn with the sponsor.
