Injuries: In the first minute of the second-half Mike Stowell was knocked unconscious after a challenge from Paul Williams following a Tony Ford corner. Stowell who was unconscious for five minutes also swallowed his tong and ruptured ligaments. Tim Steele was also carried off and Albion’s Gary Bannister also suffered concussion. Tom Bennett who had never played in goal before volunteered to go in goal. Asked why he volunteered he said because there was a natural replacement for him at full-back on the bench in Brian Roberts.
Pitch Invasion: A Wolves fan ran onto the pitch and gave Albion defender Graham Roberts a carrot. He was apprehended by Albion’s manager Bobby Gould who handed him to the Police.
Landmark: Steve Bull makes his 200th league appearance for Wolves. Tony Ford nets the 200th Black Country Derby League goal at Molineux.
