Darren Bazeley an attacking full-back or midfielder spent three seasons at Wolves having signed on a free transfer from Watford. He was ever present in his first season with the club but on 23 December 2000 he twisted he knee and suffered cartilage tear and unfortunately never played for the club again.
He had started his career with Northampton Orion and also trained once a week with FA School of Excellence before joining Watford as a trainee in 1987 and in May 1991 he turned professional. He went on to make 281 appearances netted 24 goals with and a hat-trick against Southend United. He suffered Relegation from the First Division in 1996 but helped the club to two successive promotion to take the club in to the Premier League in 1999. After being released by Dave Jones, Bazeley transfer to Walsall and made 100 appearances but suffered relegation from the First Division in 2004.
He then had a spell with the re-invented New Zealand Knights in the Australian A-League, playing along side Neil Emblem until there demise in 2007. He played in every minute of the Knights 2005/06 ‘A’ League season and took over the captaincy half way though the next. He helped them to the 2007 New Zealand League title and also played for them in the 2007 World Club Championship in Tokyo. By the end of the season 2007/08 season New Zealand Knights were closed down and alongside Neil Emblen joined Waitakere United in 2007. He retired in 2008 and became assistant-coach to Neil Emblem of the Waitakere United club. They have gone on to second place in the New Zealand championship in 2009 and to win the Oceania Champions League in 2010.
Darren has worked for NFF since 2007 having been the Waitakere Area Coach and a Football Development Officer. In addition, He was also the Head Coach of the New Zealand U17 Men’s Team and in December 2012 Bazeley became Football Development Manager for Northern Football Federation in New Zealand. Dareen made one appearance for England Under 21s.
