Injury: Bolton goalkeeper Joe Dean dislocated his finger after fifteen minutes and was replaced by Nat Lofthouse minutes before regular keeper Ted Hopkinson was ready to take over. Hopkinson had been in the crowd and had been special permission by the Football Association to be replace Dean.
Landmark: Gerry Mannion makes his senior debut and Cliff Durandt nets his first Wolves goal.
