Abandoned: Three minutes from the end Bury were awarded a second penalty and Wolves fans already upset by the Referee ran on to the pitch and headed for him. The referee who scented danger ran towards the dressing room. He fell on the way but after help from two players and two Policeman. With a cut face and a torn jacket, he got to the safety of the dressing room. Wolves fans refused to leave the pitch but appeals from Wolves directors the game was abandoned. He also had to be smuggled out of the ground as many Wolves fans remained outside the ground. The Football Association who allowed the result to stand penalized Wolves by closing Molineux (17 November to 15 December) and making them play home matches away from Molineux. Two league matches are to be played at neighbours West Bromwich Albion and the reserves play one match at the Bucks Head the home of Wellington Town. Wolves has been upset by the Referee who had turned down a penalty award for Wolves earlier in the match.
Penalties: One missed, and one not taken by Bury. The first was missed just minutes before Bury scored and the second came about for a foul on Hird three minutes from time.
Landmark: Dickie Baugh makes Football League debut, thirty-one years after his father does the same thing.
