Formed as Leyland Motors the club were remamed in 1982 as Leyland DAF-SGL and in 1993 as Leyland Motors Athletic.
They played in the Lancashire League from 1930 to 1980 and they were founder members of the North West Counties Football League 1982 after two season in he Cheshire League. FRom 1992 to 2001 they played in the West Lancashire Football League.
