Controversy: Wolves third came about from an injury to Lee Naylor. Forest’s Dave Beasant attempted to kick the ball out of play so Naylor could receive treatment, but Michael Branch intercepted and shot the ball under the body of the goalkeeper. Branch was substituted for his own safety due to the goal and the Police had to go into the Forest changing room at half-time to cool them down.
Remembrance: A minute’s silence was held before the game to honor Sir Stanley Matthews who had died the previous Wednesday; he had played for Stoke City, Blackpool and England.
Landmark: Adi Akinbiyi makes his 200th League appearance.
