Mitchell Brewery are believed to have first had a football team in 1873, St George’s were formed in 1874 and the two clubs merged in 1886. From 1890 the club were commonly known as Birmingham St George’s but the name was never officially changed. The club was dissolved in 1892. Mitchell & Butlers Brewery ran a football team in local leagues until the 1990s.
