In 1889 a number of local established clubs who were not in the already established Football League agreed to form the Birmingham & District League. The clubs were Aston Victoria, Great Bridge Unity, Hendesford Town, Ironbridge, Kidderminster Harriers, Kidderminster Olympic, Langley Green, Victoria, Oldbury Town, Smethwick Carriage Works, Unity Gas Department, Wellington St. George and Willenhall Pickwick, The League was clearly won by Kidderminster Olympic but the league was declared void because all the fixtures had not been completed. This again happened in the following seasons until Wolves ‘Reserves’ took the title in 1893. Aston Villa ‘Reserves’ hold the record of the most consecutive championship’s with eight between 1902 and 1910. Two other clubs, Alvechurch (1973-1977) and Halesowen Town (1982-1986) have won the League in four consecutive seasons. Wolves ‘Reserves’ first entered the League in 1892 and there first fixture a 3-0 win came at Smethwick Carriage Works on 3 September. The last fixture as a reserve team came a 4-0 defeat came at Kidderminster Harriers on 30 April 1921. There biggest win was on the opening day fixture of the 1895/96 season, Black with four, and Miller and Green with hat-trick where amongst the scorers in a 14-0 success over Shrewsbury Town. The biggest defeat 10-1, came at Willenhall Swifts on 17 April 1920. In 1947 The clubs Juniors entered the League and there first fixture was a 6-0 defeat at Kidderminster Harriers. The last game, another defeat, came at Banbury United on 30 April 1960. The Juniors biggest win came at Halesowen on 13 February 1954, Joe Bonson netted a double hat-trick as they won 11-0. The League became the West Midland (Regional) League in 1962.
